12/27/10 How quickly we forget...
IT’S SNOWING…or should I say I wish it was?
Today is Friday, July 22nd and in case you have not heard…. It is HOT in NYC, but only a few months ago were we under all of this snow.
I’m planning a road trip with my family from Miami to New York for this December, but our main concern is weather! I live in Central America, so we aren’t use to driving in snow or ice. We have done it, but are not really used to it. Is the I-95 too icy or snowy? We would love to have snow for our Holidays, but are kind of worried if it would be safe for us to take the road trip.
Beside this what suggestions can you give us, we are a family of 4 adults, where to stop and what to see… We are planning to stay at least 4 nights in nyc, stop in Orlando for 2 nights and have about 15-16 days to do it and back

The weather on the northeast coast is always a toss up during the winter months. All I can hypothetically advise is that you should prepare for wintry mix weather, which includes: rain, freezing rain, snow, strong winds and or flurries. So if you are unsure of your driving skills in winter weather, I strongly suggest taking that into consideration, because there are times when storms hit the entire east coast, so driving north along I-95 may be risky. With that being said, you should definitely pack clothes that will keep your warmest during the colder weather, but still allow you to walk around and site see in Manhattan, Brooklyn and the rest of the city.
Regarding places to see, I would definitely tell you to select a Broadway show, get tickets to a music concert at MSG and/or purchased tickets to a Knicks basketball game or a Rangers hockey game. I would also say, you can check out Time Out NY, Zagat, Yelp and City Search for restaurant choices. There are a lot of spots with fine cuisine for not that expensive, and then there are also over priced places, but if you have any questions, search for it on Yelp and you should check out comments and feedback left by prior customers.
